Racing
Neon Switchback
★★★★☆ 4.4
Neon Switchback doesn't bother with realism and I love it for that. It's pure arcade racing: hold to accelerate, tap to drift, chain your drifts for a speed boost and try not to kiss the barriers. The sense of speed is excellent and the synth soundtrack carries you along.
The tilt controls are optional, which is good, because I found the on-screen steering more reliable. Races are short, usually two or three minutes, making it ideal for quick sessions. It does warm the phone up after a handful of races, so expect a steeper battery curve than a casual game.
There's a surprising amount of track variety once you unlock the later cups. It's the game I keep going back to when I want a quick hit of adrenaline.
